Reggie was born in Sidney, Nebraska and grew up in the area made up of NE Colorado, SE Wyoming, and panhandle of Nebraska. He was raised in a Christian home and realized he needed Christ as his Savior at an early age. He graduated from Akron High School in 1975 and from the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Geophysical Engineering in 1979. That same year, he started his career with Union Oil Company of California in Oklahoma City.
The Lord has blessed him with a wonderful godly wife, Cindy, and three beautiful believing daughters; Anna, Lauren, and Grace. His various work assignments took them to many locations in the “oil patch” including Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Indonesia, and Canada. In all those places, the Lord led them to rich Christian communities for fellowship and worship.
Following a 35-year career with Unocal/Chevron in the oil and gas industry, they built a home and moved to Estes Park in the fall of 2014. They love living on the door step of Rocky Mountain National Park. Salvation Story
In 1971 at a school dance, Steve was approached by several young “hippies”. They asked, “Do you know Jesus?“. These hippies consisted of a couple of college-aged boys and a few young ladies; they were Jesus freaks (JF). Steve had been raised a Catholic and always believed in Jesus, but due to his Catholic upbringing, he never knew that a personal relationship with Him was possible. The JFs and Steve spoke for a while, then they invited Steve to go to their church to meet some others. Not long after, Steve was introduced to his personal Savior, Jesus.
Family life
Erin and Nicole were three years old when Steve and Alison met (ask Alison for the details); they married four years later. When their girls left for college, Steve and Alison moved to Estes Park; this was in 2008. About a year and a half later, they started attending Rocky Mountain Church. Steve began serving at Riverplace not long after they joined the church in December of 2009. He has served on the worship team playing bass, guitar, and doing sound; he also helped out doing live streaming during the Covid-19 outbreak. He has been on the elder team for 11 years.
Steve’s spiritual gifting is in shepherding, wisdom, and faith.
